Project Studio
Project Studio is live working time for your group project. The three weekly session times and Zoom links are on the home page; drop into whichever fits your schedule. Staff are there to help.
Forming your group
Groups are 3-4 students, grouped by time zone (most of you are in the USA, India, or China) so your team shares working hours.
- Sign up on the group sign-up sheet: add your name, email, and time zone, and join a group in a similar time zone.
- By Saturday of Week 1 (11:59 pm) your group must be finalized. Then email your TA as a group, with every member replying to confirm you all agree.
- Joining late? Sign up as soon as you can and email your TA; we will place you in a group with room.
Weekly plan
| Week | Focus |
|---|---|
| 1 | Brainstorm your data science question and form your group |
| 2 | Narrow your question, find example data, and submit your Proposal (Friday) |
| 3 | Draft Report Part 1 (due this week) |
| 4 | Draft Report Part 2 and revise Part 1 |
| 5 | Finalize the report and record your video |
Working as a team
We expect all students to be roughly equal contributors. No one person should carry the project; it is meant to be collaborative and to give you practice working with people you do not know. A good approach: agree on a communication tool and a schedule, discuss each personβs strengths, divide up responsibilities (with a backup person for each), and check in regularly so you can adjust if problems come up. Leave time to proofread each otherβs work.
A non-cooperative teammate? Try to work it out within the group first, and keep a record (emails, chats). If you cannot resolve it, contact the course staff; we will step in, and if needed we reserve the right to move someone to a new group or grade them separately.
