Academic Integrity & AI
Academic Integrity
Donβt cheat.
You are encouraged to (and at times will have to) work together and help one another. However, you are personally responsible for the work you submit (quizzes). For group assignments, it is also your responsibility to make sure you understand everything your group submitted, and that the correct file was uploaded and renders correctly. Projects may include ideas and code from other sources, but those sources must be documented with clear attribution. Please review UCSDβs academic integrity policies.
If you are feeling lost or overwhelmed, thatβs ok! Ask questions in or after class, come to office hours, or reach out to course staff.
Cheating and plagiarism are strongly penalized. If this website or Gradescope is down (or something else stops you from submitting on time), email course staff immediately with your work attached, or it will be graded as late.
Use of AI Tools
You are welcome, and even encouraged, to use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.). Used well, they are powerful learning aids: ask them to explain readings, clarify concepts, or give feedback on your writing. Used as a shortcut, they short-circuit the learning this course is built around, and youβll be unprepared for the reading quizzes. Copying AI output verbatim and submitting it as your own is not allowed; itβs usually easy to spot and it defeats the purpose. This comes down to your own integrity and engaging honestly with the material.
